I said there'd be a cardigan, and here it is. It's red just in case your browser is like mine and it appears as a shocking orange. It's red because I wanted a sort of vintagey cardigan to wear at Christmas. And you have to have red and cables for that. Or reindeer. Or both.
It was a very easy knit and didn't use much yarn (it's slightly cropped which helps in that department) but I did make it a size too large. Which turns out to be okay, as that seems to be In at the moment. Very 80s.
I have good memories of 80s knitwear. Even down to the batwing mohair number I knit on broomsticks for a friend to wear to a concert. I made it up as I went along and it was a roaring success. That and the T-shirts I spray painted slogans on using car body paint. We used to knit our own school jumpers, I think the school sort of admired our enterprise and it kept us occupied at break and lunch. Them were the days.
I've been knitting quite a lot recently, I'm rediscovering the zen like quality of plugging away at stocking stitch. The knitting group has taken a turn for the better as well, with the addition of three women who are really good fun. In fact we have so much fun we don't do much knitting, but that's a good thing-right?
Thank you all for the fabulous comments and emails following my last post. I haven't replied to them all individually as constant repetition of Thank You may end up sounding shallow. The support of readers, lurkers (you know who you are) and fellow bloggers cannot be measured but is very precious.
It's perfect. Love the cabling on the front, and very red on my browser, all the better for Christmas. Good to that the knitting group is fun. I go along to ours - in the local pub - and I can hardly see a thing the light is so poor. What with that, the chat and a gin and tonic, I sometimes come out with fewer stitches than I went in with...

I love the cardigan! I have just rediscovered my enthusiasm for knitting - I was even knitting a sock in the car yesterday (I hasten to add that Malcolm was driving!)

Phew, that certainly is red!!!! I love the idea of you knitting your own school jumpers - how enterprising!
(Now let's see if your blog will accept this comment - the last one, expressing sympathy about Frank, wouldn't go through. x)

Knitwear is abundant in the shops at the moment, but I'm reluctant to buy as I would enjoy knitting something for myself. Never seem to have the time, though. I like the look of your cardigan, although I usually favour a close fit as it seems to keep me warmer. Mohair was good for warmth - it seems to have fallen out of fashion. I still have one of those batwing numbers, but only wear it around the house, not for public viewing!
Sorry to hear of your recent troubles, but it's lovely to read you blog again, I've missed it.

It's perfect! There is something so cheery about cherry red cardigan. No matter what I pair it with - jeans and tennis shoes, a tweed skirt and boots, or my pj's, it never fails to look good, warm me up, and lift my spirits. Can't ask for more than that!

Great to have you back. I was on the verge of emailing you! Love the cardi, and it def. looks red to me. I know what you mean about stocking stitch.....it is so relaxing as you don't have to think about it! X

I love the cardi...my attempt at one for me has been stuffed in a bag and hidden at the back of the heap that is called my 'stash' hmph!!
I'm a (harmless) lurker...honest!! Mainly because I have trouble leaving messages on people's blogs, mostly they are refused..Take care

Great to see you back. I love the cardi. Those buttons are very sweet. I think it just needs a glass of sherry and a mince pie to make it perfect :-)
Hope you are feeling a little better about Frank now. I lost my beloved dog at the weekend and it hits hard doesn't it?

Welcome back in the saddle if you know what I mean! What can I knit in Singapore? The wool you can buy here is all very acrylic. I mean, if I was standing holding a ball of wool and someone lit a ciggy in Malaysia I am likely to go up in flames.
Ideas on a postcard.....

Try here! All depends on where you're based probably. When we lived in Moscow I asked locals where they went and discovered a factory shop that sold the most amazing cashmere at such low prices. Good luck!

Great cardigan, and must say you made me chuckle at the mention of 'batwing' tops. Oh yes, I remember them. Glad you have picked yourself up - upwards and onwards towards Christmas. Enjoy half-term, whenever that may be.

That cardigan looks so festive, even though Chrome makes it look Tangerine. I, too, have been knitting stocking stitch, 210 stitches each row. It might be some time to the finish.
Good to see you back, I miss your writing.

I love the cardigan! The red color with the sweet heart buttons are just adorable. I admire all you gals that knit. My daughter is one of them. She didn't get that from her Mom. ♥

Ooh, I do like this ... very seasonal, although I'm seeing hawthorn berry red rather than holly berry ... no idea if that's down to my monitor or is just me.
