I could watch the bees all day, they don't mind how close you get to them and aren't in the least aggressive. I love the way this one has wings like leaded windows, and the gorgeous fur coat as well.
I don't think I'd noticed before how it's apparent which parts of the flower the bees have already visited. But it's clear from the photo. That daisy looks juicy even to me!
Daisies are like sunflowers, they're actually lots of tiny flowers, florets, clustered together in the middle which is I suppose why the bees love them so much.
It was lovely and sunny yesterday but there's a definite cooler edge creeping in, when I go walking in the mornings it's almost cold. I've suddenly improved my pace, knocking four (four) minutes off overnight. Not sure what happened there but I positively race round now.
Yesterday a lady was backing out of her drive, saw me speeding up, and very kindly pulled back in so I didn't have to stop. I wouldn't say I enjoy it but I have a competitive streak which is definitely kicking in. I do worry how I'll manage when it's icy, though. Can you power walk in wellies?
well done with your speed! have you got a smart phone? you can get apps that time you, and record your progress, I don't have one but when I walk with my friend I love to look at the stats, I just record mine on mapmywalk when I get home. As for ice, get yourself some yaktraks or similar, I loved mine and I walked all winter, until I lost one of them in a particularly deep snow drift...............

I, too, was going to suggest spikes on the feet for the ice. I have some boots that have spikes in the heel that can be flipped in or out depending on whether you are on ice or pavement. Kept me upright last winter!

Fabulous pictures! The bees have been so active this summer (while I have wilted it has to be said). The Isle of Dogs bees have made a record amount of honey too. Unfortunately, the hives belong to the school and we will have to pay...

I think powerwalking in wellies would be quite entertaining for you and any spectators! :-) I have a pair of North Face "approach shoes" which I use a lot in the winter. They look like sturdy trainers but have really good deep grips underneath (although no spikes so probably wouldn't work so well on ice) and a gortex lining to keep your toes warm.

Lovely photographs. Yes, bees are fascinating. Have to say I've noticed more dead ones this year than ever before. On my walk yesterday there was a group of three huddled together on the path, all deceased. What's that all about?

Serious bee envy! The bees here just don't stay still long enough for me to get a good photo! I love your crochet blanket from the previous post I keep saying I am going to try more crochet, but I haven't managed yet!!

I've noticed that here as well, but it's the big bumble bees. Very sad.

My Mother bought some of those, then complained they'd made holes in her shoes. Yes, she had them on upside down!

Meant to say as well, I use Nike+ on my iPod, it tracks by GPS and does graphs and announcements. Very motivating...!
