This is my go-to pattern when I want to stress-bust. I have made umpteen of these scarves, but I have to say this is possibly the loveliest yarn I've used so far.
It's Catherine Earnshaw merino and is beautifully soft, other than warmth, possibly the most important attribute in a scarf. Having said that I can put up with hairy and scratchy yarns myself if necessary for some sartorial reason. Shoes that rub would have to be top of my Hate to Wear list, or knickers that ride up (most distracting).
This may or may not go into the present stash, probably not as it's so scrummy. And let's face it, I could do this pattern in my sleep; and there will be more I'm sure. I find the combination of stitches very relaxing for some reason, I've said before how I find counting in fives very calming. In fact I don't really know why I don't do a throw in this pattern.
So there you are, I've set myself up with a project for autumn; something stashbusting as well which is always good.
I agree, undergarments and shoes must be comfortable. Great scarf, is the pattern available online?

That's a pretty scarf. I have just ordered some Merino yarn, really looking forward to using that - possibly on a cardigan.

I've made at least 6 of these, and they're on my ravelry page. I've used 4ply, DK and aran and it works well with all of them.

I have a cardi pattern lined up, some cables! I haven't made anything to wear for a while now and feel the urge coming on.

I have neglected my knitting for far too long but I do know that the more intricate the pattern/instructions, the better I shall like it.
I used to knit obsessivley until I had to work to pay the mortgage. That is all done and I want to knit and sew again but am finding the impetus lacking.

Lovely scarf. I like it so much I may have a bash at one, I'm looking for a brainless project and I got a couple of nice balls of purple wool in the charity shop recently...
