There's a new cafe in town, Springs, it doesn't appear to have a website so I took some sneaky pictures.
I really like the decor, lots of contrasts which work very well together. A lot of thought has obviously been put into making somewhere more modern and not another twee tea room, though I would think it would appeal to a broad range of people. (It wasn't empty when I went but, as you may already know, I don't like people in my pictures unless there's really no alternative. I'll perform contortions to get people-free shots!!) Oh, the food was very good as well!
I spent a lot of yesterday gardening. The hard-grafty type not the tittling round dead-heading type. I went to Springs for a late lunch before getting stuck back in. A lot of the work was removing alchemilla/lady's mantle from the side of the drive. If you've ever had to do this you know the importance of not letting it get too well rooted... say no more.
I was aching so much by bedtime I had to have painkillers to get to sleep. But it does look better, and I revamped the front doorstep with some basic terracotta pots and blowsy flowers. Picture to follow if the sun shines on it and the flowers open.
I also took the rash step, while at the DIY buying plants, of getting paint to repaint the kitchen (following the water leak and subsequent staining). This is no small job and I'm not looking forward to it. But now's as good a time as any. I hate painting ceilings...
The cafe looks lovely..sort of modern in an old fashioned way, if you get my meaning? They must have had a job lot of wallpaper pattern books methinks! Hope your aches are feeling better today.

'Tittling around'? That's a new one on me!

Love the decor. I'm thinking we could do with some decent cafes in this town - there's really only one to speak of (and it isn't the one my cousin owns!). The alchemilla is taking over in our garden. Can't decide whether I like it or not.

You're kidding? Must pot up some of the menace then!!

Just been to look...crying out loud! I can't get rid of the stuff fast enough. Cottage industry here I come.

I don't mind it but it spreads like wildfire here. And it's a real backbreaker to shift.

Now that's my kind of place! If the food is as good as the decor. it should be successful.
I love alchemilla mollis, but it is inclined to self-seed all over the place.
Hope the aches and pains have gone! Good luck with the ceiling painting - I am so glad that we no longer have very hgh ceilings - in this house I can do the ceilings with a roller on a long handle.

Lovely cafe - great chair. Agree about Alchemilla, mine has spread particularly well this year - weather maybe? What could be worse than painting ceilings even with a long handled roller. But it will look so good after. Good luck.

And while you've got your brushes out , could you give my kitchen a quick coat , too?
I was just thinking yesterday that the whole house ( mine , not yours ! ) could do with some paint . It must be the unaccustomed sunlight .

Yes, when the holidays start, the real work begins! The cafe looks pretty with all those papers.
