Toffeeapple asked what I bought at the florist's on Monday. Ivy. Yes, I paid good money for a weed that invades my garden... but someone has wound it around some wire, thus rendering it artistic and a weed no longer.
I have a heart shaped one in the front porch, it is resistant to the massive temperature changes that occur out there in the unheated entrance, and so a valuable asset! The new one is in the dining room and has a nice seasonal look about it.
I know I should pull my finger out and make one myself, and I may indeed have a go at the weekend, having already got wire, compost and plenty of ivy. I suppose it will take a while to get going, but that's why you pay someone else to do it for you...
My maternal Grandma was called Ivy...
Ooh, it does look pretty! I was hacking back some ivy in my garden yesterday, it was stopping the gate from opening. I didn't take off too much though in case the birds use it for nesting. I like your candle sticks too.

So how does this work ? You plant living ivy in compost and train it to jump through hoops ?
I hope you give it lots of rewards when it gets it right .

On the contrary... I thrash it if it doesn't do as it's told. None of that modern nonsense here.

I like Ivy ..there is something about the glossy leaves and clean lines that is very pleasing.
