Twilight, dusk, sunset, the gloaming. Whatever, I think it's probably my favourite time to go out walking. A little bit of light for dramatic contrast and some impressive shadows.
I have been out walking at night in the past but it's probably not sensible on your own. Not in case someone jumps out, more in case of an accident. You're far less likely to encounter a passer by. It's not unusual to hear the search and rescue helicopter out at night though.
The word twilight always makes me think of when I was small and my Mother worked the twilight shift. My Dad used to let us watch the Waltons before bed!
