Toffeeapple mentioned eiderdowns in the comments recently and of course I have some... these are my three favourites. The top one is pure down, the middle one is a large size. I like cotton ones the very best and when the frill is made from the same material.
When we moved to Moscow I sold loads, they paid for a big party, mainly satin ones which don't stay on beds very well, but do look very glam if just for show!
I love eiderdowns, crisp cotton sheets, beautiful pillowcases and cosy blankets. I grew up in a house that didn't have central heating and you learn to appreciate a warm bed, water bottles were essential as was a flanelette nightie. I still never have the heating on at night.
Lurking in the cupboard are also various throws and quilts that are so pretty I should be using them, maybe they'll be for another post.
On a different note, the boys' inaugral cooking evening went very well. After we'd been to the shop- one hadn't spent the money he'd been given as a) he couldn't think what to make and b) he doesn't like shops. A real man in the making!
On the way into the supermarket one of the lads said 'Can we all call you Mum when we're walking round?' No problem, son.
