I posted some pictures over two years ago of this same place. The stream was just a trickle then...
...now just look at it! This is all run-off from the hills and the water is beautifully clear. It rained a lot here in 2012, in fact 62.66 inches of it- that's five foot two and a bit of water falling from the sky. Twenty inches more than last year. Bleugh, no wonder the streams are racing along.
Because we are over 1100 feet above sea level we usually only get localised flooding in valley areas, but the ground is completely saturated even up here. I really hope someone is doing something to collect all this water and there won't be drought nonsense any time soon after a week of sunshine (pleeeease....).
The window sills are going rotten, another side effect of never actually drying out; the garden is mush and the moss on the drive is thriving. I don't think the weather has been particularly kind to anyone for the past year, and They say we should get used to it, that this is what to expect in future.
Well, I love where I live, but for the record: If I win the lottery any time soon I'm off.
