I've had squirrels in the garden, pheasants, all the usual birds, other people's dogs and yesterday morning I opened the curtains and peered into the front garden to see...
They had a potter around, scratched up all the fallen leaves and clippings that I (ahem) didn't bother moving last time I did the hedge. I usually do leave them as it's a bit of the garden where lots of birds like to rootle about and eventually the clippings just mulch away.
Anyway, the chickens scratched, clucked and feasted on the goosegrass and then had a dust bath, before getting settled down in a huddle. They looked like they were here to stay, but had gone when I came home at lunchtime.
I'm assuming they live at the top of the road, I've seen chickens knocking around their front garden. It's not too far away, but far enough for a chicken. Do they wander much? Maybe they didn't get put in the night before as it was very early when I found them.
I've often fancied keeping fowl, not ducks after the beggars tried squatting on my pond, and I liked the look of the chickens about the place. But probably not, visiting ones are welcome though.
