You can tell the females who have already released their eggs as they have extra floppy skin round the midriff. The croaking and splashing can be heard all the time, the two massive tench swim serenely around, avoiding the particular part of the pond where the action is centred. I wonder if they eat the spawn?
I spent quite a while (and the rest) yesterday watching and taking pictures (of which there are many). I love the frogs and am so glad they are back with a vengeance after losing so many to the cold last year. We didn't lose anything in there this winter.
