There are some things that just can't be tarted-up in a photo. Take these garage-sale finds for example.
A copper coal scuttle, and copper fender. Only a small fender, but most of the bedrooms here have the original fireplaces, and I'm sure it will have a place...eventually.
I have visions for a couple of bedrooms. Involving actually making them useable, one will be a work room, and the other a guest room. It does mean, though that I'll have to pull out my finger and declutter.
For some reason I'm finding it hard to find the motivation required to get organised and get stuck-in. Something always seems to get in the way.
Take this week...I've made a 'To Do' list of things that really need to be done around the house. I've bought all the necessary materials (well, almost all) and have them lined up. The jobs are all relatively small, but added together seem to take on an overwhelming enormity. So I just keep leaving them, and they keep piling up.
I never used to be like this, and always had boundless energy. Lately it seems to have deserted me. I have managed, though, to actually finish reading a book. I used to read all the time, but I've been finding it difficult to concentrate or become engaged with the story.
Here's the other garage-sale find...
Another dressing table pot, with a lovely orange top. I'm still looking for a set of drawers or dressing table for the spare room, then this will have a place to go. Maybe with the other one as well.
No Hornsea to be had, or any pottery really. They were selling off a lot of garden tools and even the greenhouse. Maybe they're moving to somewhere without a garden. There were quite a few people there, browsing and buying. A neighbour had also put out some stuff in front of their house.
I once read on a blog (from the US I think) that they have block sales, where the whole street closes off and everyone has a yard sale. I think that's a really great idea, much better than having to cart stuff to a car boot sale and stand around in a field. It would certainly work on a road like this one as everyone has a front garden or driveway, and the pavements are nice and wide. I wonder if anyone would be interested?
